Accommodation
LOCOG’s accommodation allocation
LOCOG has signed approximately 50,000 rooms in London per night during the peak period of the Olympic Games. 15,000 of the rooms contracted are university rooms so the number of hotel rooms signed is approximately 35,000. By 2012 it is estimated that London will have 120,000 bedrooms so LOCOG will have around 30% of hotel room stock.
Fair Pricing & Practice Charter
It is widely recognised by the UK tourism industry that over-inflated pricing and/or inappropriate trading practices during 2012, and specifically during the period of the 2012 Games, could do long-term damage to the international reputation of London and the UK as a destination, undermine the huge potential for positive messages about the country and deter potential visitors and business.
The UK Fair Pricing & Practice Charter provides a platform for UK businesses to declare their commitment to reasonable and fair trading terms in 2012. The list of signatories will be made available to visitors, travel intermediaries and media. It will provide re-assurance and confidence and encourage fair play and best practice in our industry.
